Back and Forward: replay a trade's earlier states

Added or removed a leg and want to see how the trade looked before? The ◀ and ▶ buttons step Back and Forward through the recorded states of the selected trade. They are on the Options Analysis toolbar (just before the TLOG button) and on the Trade Log window.

Keyboard: Alt+Left for Back, Alt+Right for Forward, in the Options Analysis window and in the Trade Log (Ctrl+[ and Ctrl+] work too).

It is a simulation. A step only ticks or unticks the fills in the Trade Log, exactly as if you had clicked the Select checkboxes yourself, and the Options Analysis (positions, risk graph, margin) follows. Nothing is saved, no order is sent, and the trade file and your account are not touched. While a past state is shown, a red SIMULATION banner appears on the Options Analysis toolbar and on the Trade Log. Step Forward to the last state, and the live selection returns and the banner disappears.

What is recorded

You do nothing to record a state. Just before SOAP2 changes a trade's log (a model is committed, executions are added or converted, or the Trade Log window is saved), it keeps a checkpoint of the trade's executions (and of the model legs on the grids at that moment).

Checkpoints are kept for 30 days, up to 20 per trade, in Trades\<account>\History\<trade> inside your SOAP2 data folder. A state identical to the previous one is not recorded twice. SOAP2 tidies this folder by itself when it starts: it removes the history of a trade you deleted, and of an archived trade once nothing has been recorded for 30 days.
